The Trump administration’s abrupt cancellation of funds for a program that helps refugees relocate in the US was unlawful, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops says in a lawsuit filed in federal court.

The action violated the separation of powers, was arbitrary and capricious, and violated the Administrative Procedure Act, the complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Columbia says.

Other recent lawsuits challenge the administration’s current handling of foreign aid, including for foreign AIDS research and foreign assistance programs administered by the US Agency for International Development.
