There might just be a new addition to your family's 4th of July food spread this year -- a Firework Oreo cookie with a creme center that pops and crackles in your mouth!
Similar to the popular old-school candy Pop Rocks, the creme center of the Firework Oreo features red and blue studs of popping candy, which is sure to be a patriotic delight to the senses.
"There's no real taste difference," wrote
Food & Wine writer Adam Campbell-Schmitt, who tested the new product. "Just a slight gritty texture from the popping candies in the frosting, although not as grainy as the sugar-laced Peeps Oreos from this Easter."

But here's the best news of all:
Always on the lookout for the next bestselling Oreo, the makers of "milk's favorite cookie" are asking for flavor suggestions in the form of a contest and a $500,000 reward.
"Now’s the chance to share the flavor you’ve been waiting for," the company said. "Or a combo of flavors! Or, it could be a flavor inspired by a moment in your own life. Or what about the flavors of your favorite holiday? What would those taste like in an Oreo creation?"
Through July 14, sandwich cookie aficionados can submit flavor suggestions on Instagram and Twitter using #MyOreoCreation #Contest. Three finalists will be chosen based on taste appeal (40%), creativity (30%), and originality (30%), and the final winner will be decided after fan voting. Runners-up will each receive $25,000, while the first-prize winner will receive half a million bucks and a once-in-a-lifetime trip to New York City to visit Oreo's
"Wonder Vault" -- the keeper of all secrets Oreo-related.
So get those creative juices flowing! Remember, there have been some
pretty crazy Oreos in the past (we're looking at you, Watermelon!). But there are a couple little-known flavors we'd like to try, too -- like Cookie Dough or Peanut Butter.

Either way, we can't wait to see all the unusual ideas cookie enthusiasts will come up with. In the meantime, we'll be over here gettin' our Firework Oreo on!
