TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Storms from overnight will continue to weaken this morning with another round of severe weather late this afternoon into tonight. All hazards are possible including the risk for tornadoes late this afternoon/evening and heavy rain overnight. Heat returns Thursday through early next week with heat indices near if not exceeding 100°. Several rounds of rain will continue through tomorrow with severe weather at times. When it’s all said and done for the week, most spots will likely be in the 0.5”-2” range but several areas could be in the 2-4” range as well. The heavy rain that is expected tonight will be monitored for a flood threat especially if it falls in the same areas that got the heavy rain Monday night. Today: The chance for scattered showers/storms will exist all day but there will be a lot of dry time in spots so keeping an eye on the radar will be important especially if you have outdoor activities. Those that get rain will likely remain in the 70s for highs but for those that are dry for the majority of the day, highs should warm into the 80s. Winds S 5-15, gusts up to 25 mph. Tonight: Rain likely, heavy at times. Severe weather also possible. Lows in the mid 60s. Winds SE/N 5-10 mph. Tomorrow: A few lingering showers/storms at times through the day with decreasing clouds late. Highs in the low-mid 80s. Winds W/NW 5-10 mph. Heating up in the upper 80 to mid 90s for most spots starting Thursday lasting into early next week. Friday/Saturday will likely be the peak heat combined with the higher humidity but it’ll be hot the entire time frame of Thursday through Tuesday of next week. Speaking of which, there does remain a chance for showers/storms at some point in the first half of the work week but confidence is low on specifically when so will keep the 8 day dry for now.
