ST. LOUIS — For those who loved Kali the polar bear, his replacements might double their pleasure.

Twin 2-year-old polar bears Kallik and Kallu made their public debut Tuesday at the St. Louis Zoo.

As reported earlier this month , the zoo's fan favorite, Kali, was part of a big league bear trade with the Toledo Zoo, where Kali might breed with a female polar bear, Crystal.

In return, the Toledo Zoo sent Crystal’s offspring, Kallik and Kallu, over to St. Louis.

Kallik is an Inuit word meaning “lightning,” and Kallu is an Inuit word for “thunder.”
