GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The Clifton Elementary School principal is being charged with theft.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) received a report of potential theft at Clifton Elementary on April 14.

District 51 reported that two employees, one being the principal, took school property without approval.

D51 confirmed the principal had been on administrative leave since April. MCSO says the property was valued at about $300.

The two theft suspects were identified as 49-year-old Amy Shepeherd, the principal, and 36-year-old Rebecca Fowler, the Clifton Elementary secretary.

Both women received a felony summons for theft.
