A severe head-on collision on U.S. Highway 1 in Nassau County led to serious and critical injuries for two individuals late Monday night. According to News4Jax , the Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 25-year-old woman from Jacksonville Beach, driving a white Chrysler 200, was traveling southbound in the inside northbound lane of US-1 when the crash occurred around 10:11 p.m. Simultaneously, detailed by a WOKV report , a sedan operated by a 25-year-old Jacksonville Beach man was also on the same southbound trajectory near JW Elliot Drive. The accounts of the accident describe a direct collision between the two vehicles, with each driver suffering severe impacts. First Coast News elaborated that the man, from Tampa, was driving a black Toyota Corolla northbound on U.S. 1, sharing the inside northbound lane where the accident unfolded. Following the collision, the woman's Chrysler came to rest in the grass center median, while the man's Toyota halted in the right lane. Both drivers required immediate medical attention, with the woman sustaining "serious" injuries and the man in critical condition. "Both her and the man were taken to UF Health Jacksonville for treatment," detailed the Florida Highway Patrol.
