(ATCHISON COUNTY, Mo.) Two women were injured following a crash Thursday afternoon in Atchison County, Missouri. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 29-year-old Fairfax woman was driving northbound on U.S. 59 Highway, a mile south of Fairfax, when she failed to negotiate a curve and went off the side of the road. The front bumper of her vehicle hit a road sign. The vehicle then struck an embankment and became airborne. The passenger side of the vehicle it the ground before coming to a rest on its wheels. The driver was taken to Fairfax Community Hospital with moderate injuries. A 57-year-old women from Falls City, Nebraska was also in the vehicle. She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The highway patrol reports that the passenger and driver were not wearing their seat belts.
