2025 Miami Grand Prix

The Miami Grand Prix takes place Sunday, May 4th, at 4 p.m. at the Miami International Autodrome.

The Autodrome is a race track constructed around Hard Rock Stadium and its private facilities in Miami Gardens.

One lap is 3.363 miles, with a total length of just under 192 miles. That equates to 57 laps for the mathematically challenged.

The race is taking place for the fourth time, with a 10-year deal in place at this location.

Lando Norris won the 2024 Miami Grand Prix for the McLaren-Mercedes team, while Max Verstappen won the first two races for Red Bull Racing.

Norris holds a slight betting edge heading into the 2025 race, with Oscar Piastri and Verstappen close behind.

The Palm Beach Post will be providing coverage before, during and after the race at palmbeachpost.com .

Longtime columnist Gene Frenette retiring

In a sad day for journalism, one of the longest-tenured and most decorated columnists in the state is retiring.

Gene Frenette of the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville is signing off of his work computer for the last time May 4.

After working a few newspaper jobs early in his career, Gene landed in Jacksonville in 1981 at the Jacksonville Journal as a high school sports reporter.

Since then, he’s covered Super Bowls, college football and basketball national championship games, major golf tournaments, Summer Olympics and much more.

Of course, he’s been on the ground level of the Jacksonville Jaguars since their inception, all the way through their 30th season, which ended in January.

Gene’s farewell column can be found at the Times-Union’s website at Jacksonville.com .
