Salt Lake City's Emerald Expositions acquired Denver's SnowSports Industries America Snow Show to create a combined expo that will be held January 2018 in Denver.

Emerald Expositions has acquired SnowSports Industries America Snow Show in Denver, and will be creating a combined expo that it set to happen in January of next year. The trade show will be combining Outdoor Retailer and SnowSports Industries America (SIA) into "Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show." Emerald Expositions neglected to say the cost of the acquisition in their press release. "This is an incredible opportunity for our members and the industry as a whole," said Nick Sargent, president of SIA. He continued,
For quite some time, the industry has asked to merge the shows. A consolidated trade show not only helps reduce the stress on our industry, but also provides a platform that offers more impact for our members to do business, while delivering a greater ROI. SIA is excited by the opportunities ahead and looks forward to reinvesting into the creation of new and expanded programs and tools to help our members, and the industry as a whole, thrive."

There was even a voting process that included a unanimous vote from the SIA Board of Directors and SIA Premium Members. Chair of the SIA Board of Directors, Mike Noonan, said, "The Board felt strongly that this acquisition was the right move for the health of the industry and in the best interest of the membership." The trade show will bring the outdoor and snow sport industries together under one roof. By combining the two types of sports industries, it will give exhibitors and retailers a new market, as well as have a positive impact on the industry as a whole.
