CHICAGO -- Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton will miss a third straight game Monday night against the Bulls with a left hip flexor strain, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said in his pre-game press conference. "Tyrese is not ready," Carlisle said. "He's out. He's getting closer, he's just not there yet. Not sure where this is going to be tomorrow (for the home game against the Bucks) but today is not the day." Veteran backup point guard T.J. McConnell will be available, however. McConnell re-sprained his right ankle in Saturday's first quarter against the Hawks , but Carlisle said the ankle healed faster than expected. Haliburton is averaging 18.5 points and 8.9 assists per game this season but he was especially effective in the first seven games after the All-Star break before the injury averaging 23.9 points and 12.0 assists per game while shooting 60% from the floor and 54.5% from 3-point range. McConnell is averaging 9.5 points and 4.5 assists this season. Without him on Saturday, the Pacers had to use two-way contract guard Quenton Jackson as the team's backup point guard. Pacers wing Bennedict Mathurin is starting at shooting guard with Andrew Nembhard handling point guard duties in the starting lineup with Mathurin out.
