FORT WORTH, Texas — Memphis basketball guard Tyrese Hunter will miss Sunday's AAC tournament championship game against UAB with a left foot injury, coach Penny Hardaway said during a pregame radio interview. Hardaway told radio play-by-play man Dave Woloshin he will move Baraka Okojie into the starting lineup to account for Hunter's absence. It will be Okojie's first start of the season. The rest of the Tigers' (28-5) starting lineup remains the same: PJ Haggerty, Colby Rogers, Nicholas Jourdain and Dain Dainja. Those four players have started each of the past 14 games together. Okojie, a 6-1 sophomore transfer from George Mason, has played in 29 games and is averaging 10.2 minutes per game. He is scoring 1.4 points and one assist per game. Okojie played a season-high 21 minutes in Friday's quarterfinal win over Wichita State. He had four points, three rebounds and three steals in that game. Hunter's status for next week's NCAA tournament remains unclear. Hardaway did not offer any specifics on the injury Hunter is dealing with during his pregame interview. The first-team All-AAC selection left Saturday's win over Tulane in the second half. Video replays show Hunter backpedaling during a play, and his left foot making contact with one of Okojie's feet. He stumbled, then eventually came out of the game and went straight to the locker room. Hunter returned with a walking boot on his left foot and sat on the bench the rest of the game. After the game, he used crutches to leave the floor. Memphis was already thin at point guard even before Hunter's injury. Backup Dante Harris suffered a high ankle sprain during a March 4 win at UTSA. Hardaway said he is not available to play against UAB. But he did not rule him out for the NCAA tournament. "We'll just have to see," Hardaway said after Saturday's win over Tulane. "They're working three times a day on Dante. Obviously, the way he plays, how explosive and fast he is and how he pushes off, it's going to have to be 100 percent for him to come back. He can't be out there hobbling."
