The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) has introduced a new option for graduates to receive an eDiploma, a certified electronic version of their traditional paper diploma. This initiative aims to provide a convenient and secure way for graduates to verify their academic achievements. The eDiploma, a signed and certified PDF of the original paper diploma, is available for a one-time fee of $10. Graduates will continue to receive their traditional paper diplomas, but the eDiploma offers an additional method to access and share their credentials. Once all degrees for the applicable semester have been conferred, graduates can receive their eDiploma within minutes of ordering. "In today's digital age, having immediate access to a certified electronic diploma streamlines the process for our graduates when applying for jobs or further education," said Vickie Cook, UIS vice chancellor for enrollment and retention management. "It ensures that their credentials are easily verifiable and readily available." The adoption of eDiplomas is part of a growing trend among universities nationwide, as institutions strive to offer more accessible and efficient ways for graduates to share their academic credentials. In addition to the eDiploma, UIS continues to offer the option to order paper replacement diplomas online for $30.
