Planning to drive around the Kansas City region next week? Best to take note of roadwork that'll surely impact your commute. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced a roster of maintenance work slated for March 24-28, weather permitting. Road warriors in Clay County should expect a flagging operation on Missouri Highway 33 at Burris Rd. on Thursday, March 27, from approximately 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. for pavement repair. Over in Jackson County, Interstate 70 is looking at intermittent left lane closures between Benton Blvd and Interstate 435 all week long, from roughly 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., to safely allow to fully perform barrier wall repairs. Additional flagging operations for brush cutting and drainage works will sporadically affect routes FF, 291, and the 291 Outer Rd. According to MoDOT's announcement , Johnson, Pettis, Ray, and Saline counties will not be spared from this springtime spruce-up either. Drivers should be ready for alternating traffic due to flagging operations and full closures for pipe replacement projects on various routes, with work hours primarily between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Maintenance operations will extend to Route AA in Johnson County, impacting the stretch between U.S. Highway 50 and NW 1901 Rd. from Monday to Friday. As part of these road servicing efforts, Route EE and HH in Pettis County will see full closures for pipe replacements. Similar tasks will shutter sections of Route M in Ray County, with work continuing across multiple locations through the greater part of the week. The roadwork wraps up in Saline County with closures on Routes E, K, and BB for, you guessed it, more pipe replacement work. Remember, when navigating these work zones, to slow down and pay attention to the road. Not all of them will be apparent major construction sites; some might just be temporary setups for quick fixes or debris removal. Motorists are reminded, "Not all work zones look alike," and staying alert is key for safety, as per MoDOT .
