GLASGOW — Three suspects are in custody following a search in Glasgow Tuesday morning.

Columbia Police Department Assistant Chief Lance Bolinger confirmed to KOMU 8 that the suspects were located around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in an abandoned house.

Law enforcement officers from several agencies were in Glasgow Tuesday morning and Monday evening searching for the suspects in connection to a deadly shooting and armed robbery in Columbia .

Law enforcement agencies were searching for Steven James Paden, 34, as well as two juveniles. The juvenile suspects are teenage boys, aged 13 and 15, according to CPD.

Paden was charged Tuesday morning with felony murder , robbery and armed criminal action in connection to the shooting and robbery.

Suspects linked to multiple crimes in Columbia



The suspects were wanted in connection to an armed robbery at Broadway and Eighth Street in Columbia and shooting on East Broadway Sunday evening. The shooting left 18-year-old Zarian Simpson dead, police say.

Police say the suspects robbed Simpson and fled in a vehicle, and Simpson followed. Police say the suspects shot Simpson from their vehicle.

Police have already arrested a juvenile on suspicion of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

CPD also linked the suspects to a Saturday robbery on Scott Boulevard in Columbia. Police said two of the suspects ransacked a business, and one was armed with a handgun and tried to force the clerk to open the safe. Police said the suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise and fled.

Search in Glasgow



Glasgow Mayor Donald Clear said his county got news Monday afternoon that the suspects were possibly coming to Glasgow.

“We contacted the law enforcement agencies and they responded to us and helped us search all night," Clear said. "We had some really good leads but never got anything. We got some more leads this morning, hopefully we are going to get them today.”

KOMU 8 reporters in Glasgow reported seeing at least nine law enforcement vehicles, including from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Columbia Police Department, Boone County Sheriff's Office, Randolph County Sheriff's Office and Chariton County Sheriff's Office.

Late Monday, Howard County's E911 Facebook page announced an incident at the Casey's convenience store in Glasgow and said a suspect search was underway as a result. Officials have not yet confirmed whether the three suspects are linked to the incident at Casey's.
