Memphis basketball rises again.

The Tigers (20-4, 10-1 AAC) moved up to No. 14 in the latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll Monday − their highest position in the poll this season. It's the third week in a row Penny Hardaway's team has made headway. The Tigers are slotted between Arizona and Wisconsin this week. Last week, Memphis was ranked 15th in the coaches poll.

Memphis also comes in at No. 14 in this week's Associated Press Top 25, up three spots from last week and its highest position this season. The Tigers bypassed Kentucky, Kansas, Marquette and Missouri − each of which were ranked ahead of them in last week's poll. Memphis is behind No. 13 Arizona and ahead of No. 15 Kentucky in this week's AP poll.

Winners of seven consecutive games and sitting alone atop the conference standings (1.5 games ahead of UAB), Memphis toppled Tulsa and Temple last week.

Hardaway guided Memphis to a 90-82 win over Temple Sunday at FedExForum. He did it without starting point guard Tyrese Hunter, who was sidelined with a knee injury. Hunter is considered day-to-day, and Hardaway hopes he will be healthy enough to return soon. But, in Hunter's absence, Dante Harris stepped up for the Tigers.

Harris scored 14 points (6-of-8 from the field) in 29 minutes against Temple. The former Virginia and former Georgetown guard also had three rebounds, one assist and two steals.

Hardaway, who praised Harris for stepping up on short notice, added him to the roster in December as a midseason transfer.

"(We sold him on) more of a role," Hardaway said. "Because we had already had a bunch of wins without him. We knew his talent could help us. It really showed today how valuable he really is. We just said, 'Hey, we're already winning. Come in, be part of a good team that's already winning. Keep doing the things you need to do to be a good teammate.' And that's what he's done."

On the computer-based metrics front, the Tigers entered Monday at No. 45 in the NET (down three spots from this time last week), while rated 44th by KenPom and 53rd by Bart Torvik.

Memphis has road dates scheduled with South Florida (12-12, 5-6) on Thursday (8 p.m., CT, ESPN2) and Wichita State (13-10, 3-7) on Sunday (11 a.m., ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU).
