COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The University of South Carolina (USC) softball team will be hosting the Columbia Regional as the No. 8 seed for the NCAA Tournament. Officials with USC Athletics said this is the program’s first national top-8 seed in modern history and its 25th all-time bid to the tournament. The Regional will take place from May 16-18 at Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field and will host Virginia, North Florida and Elon. The Gamecocks are 3-1 all-time against Elon, 7-1 all-time against North Florida and 34-5 all-time against Virginia. On May 16, the Ospreys will face the Cavaliers at 3 p.m. while the Gamecocks will face the Phoenix at 5:30 p.m. Complete game times and more information on the regional will be announced later.
