Vanderbilt students again celebrated on the Memorial Gymnasium court after beating No. 16 Missouri 97-93 in overtime on Saturday. But unlike the court-stormings after games against Tennessee and Kentucky, Vanderbilt won't pick up a hefty fine this time. That's because fans waited for a few minutes after the game to flood the court. Vanderbilt put a new policy into place in February where a one-minute countdown clock is shown on the video board after each game. When it hits zero, fans are allowed on the court. Per SEC policy, if fans enter the court after team personnel have exited, there will be no fines. Had the Commodores violated the policy, they would have been fined $500,000. They were fined $100,000 for a field storming after beating Alabama in football, and $250,000 against Tennessee and $500,000 against Kentucky in basketball. Other schools have followed Vanderbilt's lead. Mississippi State was not fined for a court-storming against Texas A&M because fans waited until officials and team personnel were off the floor.
