Several vehicles reported stolen were recovered after a suspect was taken into custody in southwest Albuquerque. The police response started in the area of Coors Boulevard and Iliff Road NW after a license plate reader notified officers to a stolen vehicle. That suspected driver fled from police. Albuquerque police officers were able to attach a GPS tracking dart to the vehicle. This led police to the 1700 block of Atrisco Boulevard SW. The driver, identified as 46-year-old Christopher Apodaca, was arrested in the area. Police noticed several dismantled vehicles at the property, which prompted a search warrant being executed at the property. A total of five vehicles reported as stolen were recovered. Police suspect the area to be a chop shop for stolen vehicles. Apodaca faces a stolen vehicle charge, aggravated fleeing from law enforcement and a charge of tampering with evidence.
