Fans of Vernon Kay were in shock over his age as he celebrated his milestone birthday.

The radio star turned 50 years old and his BBC Radio 2 co-stars were quick to wish him a happy birthday by joining together to sing a unique rendition of Stevie Wonder's Happy Birthday. Many stars, including Jo Whiley , Michelle Visage , Tony Blackburn and Sara Cox , took part in the video message.

His birthday message was shared on BBC Radio 2's official Instagram account and fans were shocked about his age and gushed over how young he looks. "Lol! How is Vernon 50? Stay young fella!" one amused fan commented while another added on his page: "Happy BIRTHDAY AROUND THE SUN. Vernon can't believe ya that age good genes."

"Happy birthday to you Vernon!!! 50?! Your birth certificate must be wrong," another joked. One added: "What is Radio 2 thinking hiring all these youngsters?" Denise Van Outen was among the stars wishing him a happy birthday. Others included Kate Thornton, Nicola Adams, Charlotte Hawkins and more.

Vernon's birthday celebrations come only a few weeks after his wife Tess Daly celebrated her 55th birthday.

On her birthday, she took to her social media to share photos of her celebrations which included a huge cake and cards and presents from her friends and family. Her age was also a shock to fans as they thought she was a lot younger. Their daughters, Phoebe, 19, and Amber, 14, had treated her on a day in which the Strictly star also celebrated with a chocolate dessert. T

She said: "Thank you so much for all the lovely birthday well wishes…feeling very grateful." Tess lives in the Buckinghamshire countryside with Vernon, with whom she has enjoyed 21 years of marriage. As well as enjoying huge success in her TV career, Tess has said that being a mum is her "most important job" and that she "loves being a mum".

The star previously opened up on her and Vernon's parenting techniques, with her revealing: "Vernon is a great dad – he loves them to bits. I don’t know if there’s a good cop or bad cop, but maybe he’s a little stricter sometimes. But it’s for the greater good and we’re a good team. I’m proud of how down-to-earth they are. That’s what you want – kids who are kind and who have a good work ethic and respect people. You just try to mould good humans."
