The sudden collapse of the Northeast D.C. building was captured on-camera by a home security system across the street.

A building undergoing renovation in Northeast Washington, D.C., collapsed on Wednesday, January 15, just after two pedestrians (one using a walker) finished walking past it. They can be seen running from the debris.

The two-story building was located at the corner of Florida Avenue and Staples Street NE.

Only one person was injured, and it was non-life-threatening. No damage was done to any surrounding buildings. And luckily, the fire department was returning from another call and happened to be passing by just as the building fell.

This situation could have been so much worse! Thank goodness everyone was okay.
