In honor of National Camera Day, we're revisiting this magical photoshoot from 2019—and our hearts are melting at the cuteness.

The Pixar movie Up is one of those stories that just gets you right in the feels—even the most stoic of us have found ourselves tearing up or smiling at the wild and farfetched adventures of stubborn Carl and shy young Russell, and the bond that they build. Many young kids have a favorite movie they must watch over and over, and are pretty much obsessed with the characters and story. For one young kiddo out of Greeley, Colorado, Up is that movie.
In 2019, Elijah Perman, who was 5 at the time, was asked by his photographer mom, Rachel Perman, that he could celebrate his birthday with a magical photoshoot, and so he picked his favorite movie: Up.
Enlisting the help of her 90-year-old grandparents, Perman brought Russell, Carl, and Ellie to life in a very realistic way, and posted the finished product on her Facebook page. Her creation soon went viral, and for good reason; the trio looks like they literally jumped off the movie screen and into real life.
