An 18-year-old man was sentenced Wednesday to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing a man during a drug deal.

Prosecutors say Alex Allen Edwards Jr. of Virginia Beach and his friend, 17-year-old Ariyon Allen, planned to rob Logan Fuehrer during a meeting to buy marijuana in January 2024. When Fuehrer arrived, Allen pretended to pay him the $90 for the drugs via Cash App, during which time Edwards shot Fuehrer.

Edwards and Allen stole a gun that Fuehrer had in his lap. Investigators confirmed that the pair had communicated with the victim over the messaging app Telegram to set up the meeting, and the stolen gun was found at Edwards’ house, according to prosecutors. Edwards and Allen also attempted to sell the stolen gun over social media.

Edwards pleaded guilty in December to first-degree murder, robbery causing death, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and conspiracy. He was sentenced to 148 years in prison with 98 years suspended.

Allen pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, robbery causing death, and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony. He will be sentenced in July.

Edwards and Allen were juveniles at the time of the shooting but their cases were moved to Circuit Court due to their serious nature, according to the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney Office.
