LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (7News) — A college student from Loudoun County, Virginia, has been reported missing while vacationing in the Dominican Republic, according to authorities. Sudiksha Konanki, 20, of Chantilly, was last seen the morning of March 6 at the beach near Riu Republica Resort, where she was staying with five female college friends on a spring break trip, according to officials. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said Konanki is a citizen of India and a permanent resident of the United States. "The LCSO is working closely with our federal partners at the U.S. Department of State, FBI, DEA, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) as well as the University of Pittsburgh police in support of the ongoing investigation by the Dominican National Police," the agency said Sunday. A flyer from The Aware Foundation said she was last seen wearing a brown, two-piece bikini, big round earrings, a metal designer anklet on her right leg, yellow and steel bracelets on her right hand, and a multicolored beaded bracelet on her left hand. Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares posted to his X platform stating, "All of Virginia is praying for the safe return of Loudoun County resident Sudiksha Konanki." According to ABC News, authorities believe Konanki may have died by drowning , according to three Dominican officials involved in the investigation. ABC News added that Konanki was walking on the beach with six people Wednesday evening when at some point, most of the group went back to the hotel during the night, but one person stayed with her on the beach, according to a Dominican Republic investigative police report. She and this person went for a swim and were caught by a big wave, the police report said, according to ABC News . ABC News shared an interview with father, Rayudu Konanki, in which he said, he spoke to his daughter last Wednesday and she was happy. "On Wednesday, March 5, around 8 p.m., my daughter said she is enjoying her trip, spring break, and everything was going ok and she was really happy to have vacation with her friends," Rayudu Konanki said.
