Spring football practice has come and gone, and the second departure-and-acquisition period of the offseason has arrived.

The transfer portal reopens for 10 days beginning on Wednesday for undergraduate players, and Virginia is expected to be busy in adding to its roster.

UVa signed 19 transfers during the winter, and fourth-year coach Tony Elliott has said the Cavaliers still have significant needs in the secondary to address during the spring portal period. They also could use additional help on their offensive line and potentially extra depth at running back and tight end, too.

There are graduate transfers officially in the portal already, and other players in different circumstances who have entered also. This is The Daily Progress’ one-stop shop for all UVa football transfer portal updates. The newest information on targets, commitments and departures will be listed first.

Wrook Brown, DB, Wyoming

Former Wyoming defensive back Wrook Brown has lined up a visit with Virginia for next week, a source confirmed to The Daily Progress on Friday (April 18) evening.

ESPN first reported Brown’s expected trip to Charlottesville.

The 5-foot-11, 187-pounder was Wyoming’s starting nickel back the last two seasons. He was the Cowboys’ fourth-leading tackler in 2024 with 48 tackles. He also led the Cowboys with three interceptions, and he racked up six pass breakups.

Brown was an All-Mountain West Conference team honorable mention choice last season.

In 2023, Brown tallied 37 tackles and three interceptions.

He’s a native of Salado, Texas.

Jordan Robinson, CB, Cincinnati

Former Cincinnati and Kentucky cornerback Jordan Robinson committed to Virginia on Friday (April 18), sources confirmed to The Daily Progress. His pledge comes on the heels of his visit with the Hoos. He arrived in Charlottesville on Wednesday (April 16) for a visit, sources told The Daily Progress then.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder and native of Columbia, S.C., had 18 tackles and two tackles for loss while appearing in 10 games during his only season at Cincinnati this past fall. He had a season-best six tackles against TCU and recorded two tackles and a pass breakup against Central Florida.

He began his career at D-II Livingstone College in 2021 before transferring to Kentucky. Robinson redshirted in his first go-around with the Wildcats, and then in 2023, he played in 11 contests and registered 13 tackles and two pass breakups.

Wallace Unamba, OL, Kentucky

A familiar name has resurfaced on Virginia’s radar.

Former Kentucky and New Mexico offensive tackle Wallace Unamba told The Daily Progress on Thursday (April 17) that he’s already heard from the Cavaliers and is in contact with the staff since he re-entered the transfer portal this week.

Former New Mexico offensive tackle Wallace Unamba sets to block during a game this past season.

He was a top target of the Hoos during the winter transfer-portal window. Unamba finalists then were UVa and Kentucky. He had visited both Charlottesville and Lexington before pledging the Wildcats, who he spent the spring with.

UVa is in need of offensive line help, particularly at tackle considering Louisville transfer and projected starter Monroe Mills suffered a season-ending ACL injury early in the spring and former starting right tackle Blake Steen entered the portal on Wednesday.

Unamba played for former UVa coach Bronco Mendenhall while at New Mexico in 2024. With the Lobos, Unamba started at right tackle and did not allow a sack last fall, according to data from Pro Football Focus. Unamba was a three-time JUCO All-American at Kilgore Community College in his native Texas before redshirting in 2023 at Florida Atlantic.

Blake Steen, OT

Blake Steen, who started at right tackle for Virginia in 2024, is entering the transfer portal, he confirmed to The Daily Progress on Wednesday (April 16).

He said he’s seeking, “a place where I can continue to grow as a player and person,” in his next school.

Virginia offensive tackle Blake Steen raises his hand after the Cavaliers’ spring game at Scott Stadium on April 20, 2024.

On3 first reported Steen’s exit from UVa.

The 6-foot-5, 331-pounder and native of Miami started 11 of the Cavaliers’ 12 games at right tackle this past fall.

Pro Football Focus gave Steen a 60.9% pass-blocking grade and a 69.3% run-blocking grade.

But this past winter, the Cavaliers recruited competition to contend with Steen at right tackle while adding Monroe Mills (Louisville) and Tyshawn Wyatt (James Madison). Mills got hurt during the spring and is out for 2025 with an ACL injury. Wyatt, who played both guard and tackle during his Dukes career, began the spring as a guard, but he could shift to tackle in order to help the Hoos compensate for the loss of Mills and departure of Steen.

Elliott has also said the Cavaliers will continue to add to the O-Line through the portal.

Julian Neal, CB, Stanford

Former Fresno State and Stanford cornerback Julian Neal is visiting UVa on Tuesday (April 15), sources confirmed to The Daily Progress.

Fresno State defensive back Julian Neal (15) tackles Michigan running back Donovan Edwards (7) during a game this past August in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Neal, 6-foot-2, 200-pounder, had 35 tackles, five tackles for loss, two interceptions and six pass breakups in 2024 for Fresno State.

He had two tackles including one for loss when Fresno State played at Michigan, and interceptions against New Mexico and San Jose State.

After the season, he was one of the top cornerbacks in the portal and transferred to Stanford in December. But on the heels of coach Troy Taylor’s firing, he decided to retry the portal again and find a different destination.

Emmett Mosely V, WR, Stanford

UVa was heavily involved in trying to land former Stanford wide receiver Emmett Mosley V, but he committed to Texas on Monday (April 14).

The Cavaliers hosted Mosley for a visit on April 7 and he attended one of their spring practices. This past season for the Cardinal, he made 48 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns in 2024. In November, Mosley nabbed ACC Receiver and ACC Rookie of the Week accolades after making 13 catches for 168 yards and three touchdowns in Stanford’s win over Louisville.

Mosley decided to enter the transfer portal after former Stanford coach Troy Taylor’s firing earlier this spring.

After his visit to UVa, Mosley also took trips to UCLA and Texas.
