A 12-year-old and her dog, who were both killed when they were struck by a car, will be buried together on Saturday.

This is one of the most heartbreaking stories we've ever heard.

Jennarae Goodbar, 12, of Rockbridge County, Virginia, was outside training her dog, Cash, last Sunday afternoon when the dog ran onto a nearby road. Jennarae chased after Cash, and both were struck and killed by an oncoming car.

Now Jennarae and Cash will be buried together.

“She bought (the dog) with her own cash," Donna Jean Stuples, Jennarae's mother, told the media. "It was her baby.”

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family with funeral costs.

“Your donation will help to cover the cost of unexpected expenses," the site says. "No amount is too small. Thank you for your donation and please lift up this family in your prayers.”

As of press time, more than $39,000 in donations had been raised. The funeral for the two best friends is set for Saturday, November 3.

We at OCN just want to say that our hearts are with Jennarae's family. Sometimes there just aren't words.
