TOPEKA – The final weekend of high school wrestling concluded over the past weekend. Shawnee County had some great performances with many state champions. Basketball's regular season concluded as teams are preparing for the postseason. With these important events, Topeka-area athletes are at the top of their game. Easton Broxterman, Washburn Rural wrestling
The senior won his third straight Class 6A State Championship on Saturday. Broxterman won the 144-pound weight class as he dominated the weekend. Broxterman will be moving on to wrestle for Army West Point next season. Makayla Cadet, Highland Park wrestling
The junior won the Class 5A 190-pound State Championship with a pin on Saturday. Cadet became the first state champion in school history. Cadet is the lone state champion from Shawnee County on the girl's side this season. Maddie Gragg, Seaman basketball
The junior helped Seaman clinch their first undefeated regular season in school history. Gragg also drained a short shot from inside the lane at the buzzer to give the Vikings a 1-point victory over Piper on Wednesday. Deacon Pomeroy, Shawnee Heights basketball
In the regular season finale, the senior scored a game-high 21 points in the team's 70-49 win over Seaman on Friday. Pomeroy was clutch when other players on the team went to the bench with foul trouble, the Oklahoma State baseball commit shined to help his team to victory. The sophomore was unstoppable in Topeka High's 54-45 win over Washburn Rural on Tuesday. Rayton scored a team-high 21 points to give the Trojans a key win in the team's final regular-season game. Previous winter winners
