WAIPAHU, Hawaii (Island News) -- It’s the end of an era for the Waipahu Don Quijote with today as the store’s last day open.

The Don Quijote in Waipahu comes to a close with today as the store’s last day open.

The ground lease for this location comes to an end on Dec. 31, 2024. The store first opened its doors in Waipahu in 1995 as Daiei. The store was renamed to Don Quijote under new ownership in 2006.

The store said that they are grateful to the Waipahu community for their many years of support.

For folks on West Oahu who want to shop at the nearest Don Quijote can go to Pearl City or visit the newly-opened DonPen Times in Kunia.

Hawaii’s first Don Don Donki location is coming to Kapolei during the first quarter of 2025. Pan Pacific Retail Management Hawaii will announce a specific opening date at a later time.
