It's been a tough year for many, and food insecurity is at an all-time high throughout the nation. In fact, a survey by Ibotta found that a third of the respondents are tightening their belts this holiday season. In order to help all people enjoy a Thanksgiving meal, Walmart and the coupon app Ibotta (as well as several brands) have teamed up to provide a free Thanksgiving meal to families.

It is important to note that the products will not be free at the time of purchase. You will receive cashback for them on the Ibotta app once you upload your receipt. 

The offer provides the following items in the Free Thanksgiving Dinner program from Walmart (approximately a $20 value; selected to feed a family up to five): 

• Campbell’s condensed cream of mushroom soup (10.5-ounce can)
• 2-liter bottle of Coke varieties (excludes Diet Coke)
• All varieties of Butterball 3-pound turkey roast or $9.98 cashback on all Butterball whole turkeys
• McCormick turkey gravy seasoning packet (0.87-ounce package) 
• French’s crispy onions (2.8-ounce package)
• Idahoan instant mashed potatoes (8-ounce package)
• Great Value stuffing (6-ounce package)
• Great Value cranberry sauce (14-ounce can)
• Great Value frozen green beans (12-ounce bag)

To take part in this offer, you will need to download the Ibotta app or web browser extension. Find the Free Thanksgiving Dinner offer, add the offers you are interested in, and then shop for the items at any Walmart or at Walmart.com. In order to get your cashback, you'll need to scan your receipt into the Ibotta app or link your Walmart Grocery account. The cashback will appear in your Ibotta account, which you can cash out or use to get gift cards and more.

It appears that these offers are going fast and some may be limited. Currently, the gravy and crispy onion offers are showing as sold out on the Ibotta app, so don't wait to add the offers to your account and shop as soon as you can, so you can enjoy a wonderful meal on Thanksgiving. If you miss out on these offers, don't forget to look for others that will still give you discounts on several Thanksgiving-related items. For example, as of the time of this writing, Butterball is offering a $2 discount on select turkeys at Target and other retailers through the app.
