WASHINGTON — Walmart stores across the country are slated for remodels as the retail giant has announced plans to refresh more than 650 stores this year. The announcement comes as Walmart-owned Sam's Club also announced yearly expansions and remodels for stores across the country. Plans for the Walmart remodel was originally announced in January 2024 , but the specific locations had not been revealed until recently. Walmart said that the remodels will bring "new and bolder signage, new displays, expanded department and expanded online pickup and delivery areas." Additionally, the company said the remodels will focus on sustainability, including more energy-efficient equipment, lighting and lower impact refrigerants. At the time of the announcement, Walmart also said it was working on building a coast-to-coast network of electric vehicle fast-charging stations. Walmart's pharmacies will also get a rebrand to have wider aisles, private checkout areas and private screening rooms, according to the retailer. The company said the changes aim to "meet our customers wherever they are, leveraging our stores to welcome people to a more modern, highly-connected Walmart."
