PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Weather changes are on tap for Arizona in the new week ahead, including a warm-up and a potential weekend storm. The warming trend that began over the weekend will continue heading into the new week, peaking with a few desert spots reaching 90 degrees for the first time this year mid-week. In the Valley, look for partly cloudy skies today with an afternoon high of 86 degrees. The normal high this time of year in Phoenix is 72 degrees. As a ridge of high pressure strengthens over our region, temperatures climb to about 88 degrees on Tuesday and to 89 degrees on Wednesday. These temperatures are within a few degrees of daily records. With many visitors in the Valley for Spring Training, it’s important to remember to stay hydrated and bring sunscreen to keep safe in the sun. A weak cold front is forecast to move through Wednesday night and Thursday morning. While this won’t bring any rain or snow chances to the state, expect gusty winds during that time frame. A stronger storm will push through next weekend. At this point, rain looks unlikely in the Valley, but highs will drop to the upper 70s by Saturday and to the low 80s on Sunday. We may see a few showers in the high country, including snow above 7,000 feet. We’ll keep you posted as we get closer if there are any changes. We’re also watching for the potential of an even stronger storm that could move into Arizona early next week. See a spelling or grammatical error in our story? Please click here to report it .
