Public health officials have begun posting signs along the shore of Lynnhaven Inlet, after a high bacteria count put the area under a swimming and wading advisory.

Water samples showed an abnormally high bacteria count that exceeded the state's water quality standards. The advisory stretches from Rockbridge Road to Starfish Road. https://twitter.com/CityofVaBeach/status/895349343615688704 Swimmers and bathers are encouraged not to enter the water until more tests prove the bacteria count has subsided. Officials will collect more water samples in the coming days to determine whether the issue has fixed itself or requires intervention.
