The team's regular season will start on October 12.WASHINGTON — The National Hockey League announced the 2024-25 regular season schedules, exciting Washington Capitals fans ahead of the team's 50th season. The team's regular season will start on Oct. 12 as the Capitals go up against the New Jersey Devils at Capital One Arena at 7 p.m. Both teams will be celebrating their 50th season, as the New Jersey Devils also entered the NHL during the 1974-75 season, however their original name was the Kansas City Scouts. Twenty-one of the Capitals' 41 season home games at Capital One Arena will fall on weekends, including six games on Friday, nine games on Saturday and six games on Sunday. Some of their games will also fall on holidays, including Halloween and New Year's Eve. Additionally, the team will play on Super Bowl Sunday for the 17th season in a row.
