WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Get ready for another round of strong to severe storms this afternoon and evening, especially across central and eastern Kansas. Like Sunday, the primary threats are large hail and damaging wind gusts. However, a tornado or two cannot be ruled out.

Expect the storms to get started after 2 pm in areas along and east of I-135 (Salina to Wichita). The severe weather threat will come to an end around sunset, if not sooner as the storms move east and exit our viewing area.

Much cooler temperatures in the lower to middle 70s will be accompanied by gusty northwest winds on Tuesday followed by lows in the 40s Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The state will remain storm free on Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the 70s.

Looking ahead… storm chances come back to central and eastern Kansas on Friday morning, followed by statewide storm chances on Saturday night into Sunday morning. Dry weather is expected Sunday afternoon and Memorial Day along with cooler than normal temperatures.
