Nasty weather is headed our way. Does it mean you can sleep late?

Snow is expected to move into the area early Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service. It will then changeover to sleet before warming up and becoming rain.

Central Jersey could be in for a slick morning, and schools are already taking notice and making plans for the morning commute.

School closings and delayed openings

The following schools have announced plans for Thursday, Feb. 6.

Asbury Park

The district will operate on a two-hour delayed opening Thursday.

Barnegat

The district will operate on a two-hour delayed opening Thursday.

Berkeley

All four schools in the district will have a two-hour delayed opening Thursday.

Brick

The district will operate on a two-hour delayed opening Thursday.

Deal

The Deal School will operate on a two-hour delayed schedule. Students are instructed to report to school at 10:15 a.m. Thursday.

Donovan Catholic High School (Toms River)

The parochial high school will operate on a 90-minute delayed opening Thursday. Students and their families should check with their local public school districts for any additional delays that may interrupt bus service.

Eatontown

The district will operate on a 90-minute delayed opening Thursday.

Freehold Borough School District

The district is taking no chances, all schools will be closed Thursday. Parent-teacher conferences are also canceled. Parents and guardians should check their email for further information.

Freehold Regional High School District

All schools and offices in the district will operate on a 90-minute delay Thursday. Accordingly, bus pickups will be delayed by 90 minutes. Early schools (Freehold, Howell and Manalapan) will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday. Late schools (Colts Neck, Freehold Township and Marlboro) will begin at 9:54 a.m. Thursday.

Freehold Township School District

All schools and offices in the district (pre-K through eighth grade) will operate on a two-hour delayed schedule Thursday. Students should be at their bus stops two hours later than their regular pick-up times.

Howell

The district will operate on a 90-minute delayed opening on Thursday. Check the district website for specific start times.

Jackson

The district will be on a two-hour delayed opening Thursday.

Keansburg

The district will be on a delayed opening schedule Thursday. Conferences for Joseph R. Bolger Middle School remain scheduled for Thursday evening. Keansburg High School will have an early dismissal on Friday and afternoon conferences have been moved to this date.

Lacey

The Lacey Township School District will operate on a two-hour delayed opening Thursday; A.M. vocational school is canceled. All Before School Childcare programs will open at 8:45 a.m. Thursday.

Depending on the severity of the weather overnight, the closing of the district Thursday may be necessary. However, the district said that such a decision would be made in the morning — if necessary.

Lakehurst

The Lakehurst Elementary School will delay its normal opening time until 10 a.m. Thursday.

Manasquan

The district will operate on a two-hour delayed opening. Check here for the bell schedule Thursday.

Manchester

The district will operate on a 90-minute delayed opening Thursday.

Marlboro

The district will be on a two-hour delayed opening schedule Thursday.

Middletown

The district will operate on a 90-minute delayed opening Thursday.

All morning vocational programs are canceled. YMCA Morning Care is also canceled.

Neptune

The district will operate on a two-hour delayed opening Thursday.

Ocean County Vocational Technical School

The county district schools and their academies will operate on a 90-minute delayed opening Thursday.

Oceanport

The Oceanport School District will have a two-hour delayed opening on Thursday.

St. Joseph Grade School (Toms River)

The parochial school will operate on a 90-minute delayed opening Thursday. However, families should be mindful of any delays Thursday in the schedules of their local public school districts if their children are bused to St. Joseph's.

Seaside Heights

The Hugh J. Boyd Jr. Elementary School will have a two-hour delayed opening Thursday.

Shore Regional High School District

Shore Regional High School in West Long Branch will be on a two-hour delayed opening on Thursday. Block 1 will start at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Monmouth County Vocational School District students who are on "morning shared-time" will not be bused on Thursday. Afternoon vocational students will be bused as scheduled. Full-time academy students will be bused in accordance with the two-hour delay.

Spring Lake Heights

The district has postponed the start of school until 9:50 a.m. Thursday.

Toms River Regional Schools

The weather has caused a 90-minute delayed opening for Thursday.

West Long Branch School District

A delayed opening schedule is planned Thursday, though the exact time was not yet available.
