Central Illinois may get a taste of spring next week, following a bitter cold snap that changed its tune. Temperatures Friday are warming and will see a high near 28 in Springfield. The weather will get warmer through the weekend and by Monday, a high near 57 is predicted, according to the National Weather Service . The past week has seen temperatures that are around 15 to 25 degrees below normal, said Alex Erwin, a meteorologist with the NWS. The warmest period in the warmup will be Monday through Wednesday, with highs in the mid to upper 50s. That would be around 10 to 15 degrees above normal, but not quite approaching record levels. River flooding is not much of a concern in the Springfield area.
