The Jefferson Hotel is perfect for those that love architecture, famous people, and the glamour that a historic hotel can provide. It opened in 1895 and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969 for its distinct blends of architecture and its slew of prominent guests. In fact, 12 U.S. presidents have stayed at the hotel, as well as Charlie Chaplin, Frank Sinatra, and many others. Make sure you stop to take pictures in the grand lobby and not miss the staircase, which was the inspiration for the movie
Gone with the Wind.

Though not exactly a hotel, this is a great option for anyone looking to visit Richmond on a budget. For a weekend, you don’t really need a lot of room or amenities, as you’ll be spending most of your time outside exploring the city. There are many Airbnb options in Richmond for less than $100 a night, and often they’re in adorable historic buildings, getting you some of that same charm as a more expensive luxury hotel.
Make sure you do the research as to where the Airbnb is actually located and confirm it’s in an easily accessible neighborhood that you like.
