North 11th Avenue between U.S. Highway 85 and O Street in Weld County will be closed through May 15 for new pavement and removing an abandoned culvert, according to a news release.

“This road has seen its fair share of potholes and cracking,” said Curtis Hall, Director of the Weld County Department of Public Works. “We believe milling and applying new asphalt will improve ride quality and provide a more resilient road to better withstand future traffic demand.”

The Weld County Board of Commissioners approved the road’s temporary closure for improvements over three weeks. Weld County Public Works will do the pavement work.

North 11th Avenue is a connection for northbound traffic from 11th Avenue in Greeley to Highway 85 and an exit for southbound traffic on the highway to the corner of 11th Avenue and O Street.

According to officials, in addition to removing an abandoned culvert, the crew will mill the road’s existing asphalt, apply new asphalt, and repave the driving serving.

According to officials, the Weld County Department of Public Works has replaced several culverts on Weld County Road 66 between Weld County Road 37 and Highway 85 as part of the project. This route will be used as a detour while the project is being done.

“Both of these improvements exemplify our commitment to creating a safe and efficient transportation infrastructure,” said Kevin Ross, Weld County Commissioner Chairman. While many of our projects understandably take several months to complete, repaving the road is scheduled to take only three weeks, which is exciting, as it lessens the inconvenience of detours.”
