Sheryl Hahn Parker was murdered in July of 1996, and her killer has never been arrested. But, investigators are hoping to change that.
The Weld County Sheriff’s Office announced last week that it's looking for any new information that might be out there on a 24-year-old cold case.
Sheryl "Sherry" Hahn Parker, 41, lived in Fort Collins and went missing on July 17, 1996. Amidst marital issues, Parker checked into the Budget Host Motel in Del Camino to get away from her husband; the two were in the middle of a divorce. Del Camino is a small community a few miles east of Longmont. Parker was the mother of two teenage girls and worked as a payroll clerk in Larimer County.
Parker was not seen again after that night. She was reported missing the next day, and a little less than two weeks later, her body was found in the St, Vrain River, which is about two miles from the motel. According to the coroner's report, her death was ruled a homicide and she'd been killed by blunt force trauma. Very few details of the case beyond that have been released, and no murder weapon has ever been located.
Parker’s estranged husband, Glen "Ed" Edward Parker, was the main suspect at the time of her death. He retained a defense lawyer and refused to grant police an interview. According to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, Glen Parker has since remarried, to one of Sherry Parker’s close friends, and lives in unincorporated Weld County. He has refused to ever be interviewed about his wife’s death, nor inquired as to the progress of her case.
So, the Weld County Sheriff has decided to ask for help from the public.
“Due to a lack of cooperation by Ed, investigators are hopeful someone who knew the couple 24 years ago might know or remember something and come forward with new information. The Sherry Parker investigation is one of the Weld County Sheriff’s Office’s five priority cold cases.”
The department is taking another in-depth look at the case and has asked anyone with information to contact them. Parker’s family hopes more information can be pieced together. Perhaps this new effort will yield something that can help investigators close this case and bring justice and closure for Sherry Hahn Parker’s family.
