PHOENIX (AZFamily) — After a breezy, cool and unsettled day across Arizona to start the week, today looks quiet and warmer. However, the tranquility is short-lived as a pair of storm systems will target the state by the end of the week. Look for sunny skies and a high of 73 in the Valley today. Temperatures climb to 79 degrees tomorrow. The first in a series of storms will arrive Wednesday night and into Thursday. Rain chances in the Valley are near 30-40% during that time frame. Winds will be gusty Thursday and the Valley will only warm to 71 degrees. Rain, snow and wind are also expected in the high country on Thursday. A stronger, deeper and colder storm is set to move in on Friday. Look for a 50% chance of rain in the Valley on Friday, with rainfall amounts between one-tenth and one-quarter inch. Gusty winds and cooler temperatures are also expected with a high of just 64 degrees. Friday’s storm will also bring the potential for significant snow to the high country, with snow levels falling to 4,000 feet. We’ll keep you posted on forecast amounts as we get closer. The weekend looks dry and warmer, with Valley highs topping out in the low 70s Saturday and near 80 degrees Sunday. See a spelling or grammatical error in our story? Please click here to report it .
