Last Friday, what appeared to be a breakthrough for Oklahoma State football quickly turned into heartbreak in a 38-35 loss at BYU . This weekend, the Cowboys have an opportunity to move past that disappointment, as coach Mike Gundy’s team once again hits the road, this time to face off against Baylor Saturday at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas. After beginning the season 3-0 and rising into the top 15 of the US LBM Coaches Poll, Oklahoma State is riding a four-game losing streak and is still in search of its first win in the Big 12, a league in which it was picked to finish third in the preseason. Its loss to BYU offered some signs of encouragement, namely from running back Ollie Gordon II , who ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 6.7 yards per carry after an uncharacteristically poor first half of the season. Whatever strides were made came with the sting of defeat, though, as the Cowboys gave up an eight-play, 75-yard drive in just 1:02 that resulted in the game-winning touchdown with 10 seconds remaining. Oklahoma State will look to get back to .500 against a Baylor team that turned in one of the more surprising results of Week 8, going on the road and picking up a 24-point win against a Texas Tech team that came into the matchup with a 5-1 record. The victory improved the Bears ’ record to 3-4 in what’s emerging as a must-win season for coach Dave Aranda.
