Three teenagers were killed and 15 other people were injured in a mass shooting at a car meetup at Young Park in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Andrew 'AJ' Madrid



Andrew "AJ" Madrid , 16, was a sophomore at Centennial High School in Las Cruces. Madrid was a member of the junior varsity baseball team.

When multiple shots were fired into a crowd, Madrid was struck by one of the gunshots in his lower abdomen and killed, according to a criminal complaint document filed by a Las Cruces police detective. Madrid died at the scene.

Madrid was a likeable young man with a passion for baseball, a gentle nature and a "kind spirit" whose life touched so many others, the Centennial Hawks baseball team and Hawk Home Run Club booster group stated on social media posts.

"His spirit and determination inspired us all, and while he may no longer be with us, the cherished memories of his bright smile and unwavering support will forever remain in our hearts. Forever a Hawk," the Centennial Hawks Baseball team posted on Instagram .

A GoFundMe account in support of Madrid's family had raised more than $10,000 as of late Monday morning.

Jason Gomez



Jason Gomez was a fun-loving young man who was kind, compassionate and full of promise, family friends said on a fundraising site and a TV news interview. Police identified Gomez as 18 years old, but family and friends said he was 17.

During the shooting, Gomez was shot in the head, arm and body, documents stated. He died at the scene.

Gomez was one of six siblings. Photos shared on a GoFundMe page show him smiling, joking around and posing in a Jack-o-Lantern Halloween outfit.

Gomez will be missed dearly by his family, Mercedes Najera, a close family friend speaking on behalf of the teen's family, told Channel 7-KVIA .

"He was just a goofy, fun person to be around. There's so many words that were left unsaid with him," Najera told KVIA.

Dominick Estrada



Dominick Estrada, 19, was the third person killed in the shooting.

Estrada was shot multiple times on his body, along with a fatal gunshot wound to the head, the police complaint document stated. He died at MountainView Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, police said.

Not much information on Estrada has been disclosed.
