A recent study gives us incredible insight into what movies and TV shows the world is watching on Netflix -- the platform that has changed the entire landscape of entertainment!

Next time you sit back on your sofa ready to binge-watch your favorite show, just remember that you're not alone. Somewhere on the other side of the world -- say, in India, perhaps -- there are other people also searching the Netflix menu and deciding on the winning subject of their next binge-fest. Israelis are partial to "Grey's Anatomy," for instance, while the Dutch like watching "Sons of Anarchy." Peruvians, on the other hand, prefer diving back into the life of 1970s America with "The Wonder Years." Seriously? Who knew?

In the new report published by HighSpeedInternet.com, 91 countries' most-searched shows were cross-referenced with the number of their Netflix-related searches (based on Google Trends data), and the results are marvelous! Now we have a bird's eye view into what movies and shows entertain our neighbors around the world:

You can read the full HighSpeedInternet.com report (complete with many other fun Netflix stats and facts) right here, but here are some countries' choices that may be of special interest to you:

Romania: "Vampire Diaries"

United Kingdom: "Call the Midwife"

Turkey: "The Tudors"

Australia: "Jane the Virgin"

Tunisia: "Hannibal"

Zimbabwe: "Scandal"

Egypt and Saudi Arabia: "Lost"

And, get this --

United States? "Shameless."

Seven of the 91 countries studied prefer to watch the popular sit-com "Friends," which originally aired on NBC. After all, who could blame them?

If you eliminate country boundaries from the equation and only calculate the "popular vote," so-to-speak, more worldwide residents watch "Sherlock" than any other show on Netflix, followed by "Friends," "Narcos," "House of Cards," and "New Girl."

With 4,335 movies and 1,197 shows in its catalog as of March 2016 (according to a report by AllFlicks), Netflix is leading the charge in the ever-evolving entertainment industry, having provided both online streaming and DVD-by-mail services since 2007. Ten years later, Netflix has 98 million subscribers worldwide, 50 million of which are in the United States alone. It's available in every country in the world (except for China, North Korea, Syria, and the territory of Crimea) and is now officially able to support 19 languages, which certainly helps its worldwide expansion.

Which country's "show of choice" is a surprise to you? We'd love to hear what you think in the comments!
