The Orange men kept their ACC Tournament hopes alive with a crucial win over NC State on Wednesday night. Syracuse won 74-60, snapping a three-game losing streak thanks to a 12th double-double from Eddie Lampkin Jr. (14 points, 15 boards) and a team-high 17 points from J.J. Starling.

In a critical second half moment, Syracuse had watched its lead shrink from 19 points to just 11, after committing turnovers on three straight possessions. Adrian Autry had a simple, but effective message for his team during the time-out: “ Don’t be punked .” And they didn’t. The Orange scored on eight of its next nine possessions to help secure the 14-point win.

The Orange are back on the road Saturday, where they have notoriously struggled this season with a 2-7 away record, plus another 0-3 at neutral sites. Virginia Tech has a slight edge over the Orange in the standings, sharing their 12-16 overall record, but enjoying a 7-10 conference record, against Syracuse’s 6-11. That means a win for the Orange could be crucial at this late stage in the season, with just three total games left on the calendar.
