Cornell men's lacrosse looks for its first national championship since 1977 when it faces No. 2 national seed Maryland on Monday. The Big Red defeated No. 5 seed Penn State 11-9 in the NCAA semifinals on Friday, avenging their lone loss on the season from their defeat in March. Cornell has spent nine consecutive weeks at No. 1 in the men's lacrosse polls and also won the Ivy League championship this season. The Terrapins, meanwhile, took down No. 6 seed Syracuse 14-8 to reach the national title game, marking their ninth NCAA championship appearance in the last 14 tournaments. Maryland is seeking its fifth national championship — and won't be an easy task for Big Red.
