Location: Southeast corner of Buckboard Trail and Indian Plaza, south of Camelback Road near Maya Day Club in Scottsdale. Description: A new 12-story, 148,000-square-foot hotel called The Maya with roughly 160 rooms. It will accompany the Maya Day Club, just next door. The hotel will include three dining spaces, a rooftop pool and a fitness room. The ground floor will have a recessed two- and three-story lobby that will feature a sculptural stair, art and a lively café intended to be visible from the street and enhance the overall pedestrian experience, according to the developer's description submitted to the city. A large entry canopy will provide continuous filtered shade along the vehicular drop-off and hotel entrances. A café with outdoor seating will occupy the southwest corner. The third floor has a large restaurant that connects to a patio on the west side of the building and the roof patio of the existing nightclub on the east. History: The site was previously occupied by Dakota Night club and office space. The hotel under construction is part of an expansive redevelopment project called " The Scottsdale Collection ," which the city approved in 2020. The project includes updates to four different sites spread across 10 acres bounded by Camelback Road to the north, Stetson Drive to the South, Scottsdale Road to the west and Civic Center Plaza to the east. One of the area's largest real-estate owners, Stockdale Capital, is "looking to evolve and mature the greater Entertainment District-area into a mixed-use District. Art will be the unifying theme of Scottsdale’s next great neighborhood with extensive shade and buildings designed with varying heights and uses," according to city documents . When will the work be done? A representative for the development did not respond to questions from The Arizona Republic. Sources: City of Scottsdale public records . Like this story?
