Florida's basketball 's seed for the SEC Tournament is set, but its path remains less clear.

The nation’s fifth-ranked Florida Gators (27-4, 14-4 SEC) will open SEC Tournament action on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, after earning a double-bye by finishing second in the conference.

Florida has won nine of its last 10 games and closed the regular season with a 90-71 win over Ole Miss on Saturday. The Gators are in position to lock down their first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament since 2014, which also was the last year UF won the SEC Tournament.

UF's 14 SEC regular-season wins are its most since going 14-4 in the conference in 2016-17, a season that ended with UF reaching the Elite Eight.

“Just incredibly proud of our program," Florida basketball coach Todd Golden said. "Obviously, a great regular season, 27 wins. To go 14-4 in the league and to finish the regular season the way we did today, just can’t say enough about the job our players did this year and that my staff was able to do from start to finish."

Florida basketball seed in SEC Tournament bracket

Florida is the No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament. UF could end up with a rematch with No. 7 Missouri seed in the tournament. The Tigers (21-10, 10-8 SEC) have dropped four of their last five.

No. 10 seed Mississippi State and No. 15 seed LSU also are on Florida's side of the bracket. UF beat MSU 82-69 in Starkville and topped LSU 79-65 in Baton Rouge.

If Florida reaches the SEC Tournament semifinals, it could get a rematch with No. 3 seed Alabama. The Gators beat the Tide 99-94 in Tuscaloosa earlier this week.

Florida basketball SEC Tournament predictions

There's an old “rest vs. rust” argument when it comes to conference tournaments. Florida should feel the urgency to win at least one game to lock down at least one win in Nashville to secure an NCAA Tournament No. 1 seed.

After reaching the SEC Tournament Finals last year, expect UF to make another deep run in Nashville in 2025 and perhaps win its first SEC Tournament crown since 2014.
