Mizzou’s seed for the SEC Tournament is settled.

Missouri basketball will begin its postseason as a 7-seed in Nashville, Tennessee, after earning a single-bye to the second round of the conference tournament.

The Tigers will play the winner of a first-round matchup between 10-seed Mississippi State and 15-seed LSU to open the single-elimination event, with the game scheduled to be played at 6 p.m. Thursday at Bridgestone Arena in Music City.

Mizzou (21-10) was defeated by Kentucky 91-83 on Saturday at Mizzou Arena to close the regular season on a three-game losing streak and with a 10-8 record in SEC play. The Tigers were one conference win short of tying their SEC record from Dennis Gates’ first season in Columbia in 2022-23.

With 10 wins, the Tigers won double-digit SEC games in the regular season for just the fourth time since they joined the conference in 2012.

Missouri went 18-2 at Mizzou Arena this season but holds just just a 3-8 record when away from its home court.

The Tigers have already played both LSU and Mississippi State this season, beating each team by double-digits. Mizzou defeated LSU 83-67 on Jan. 7 at Mizzou Arena. One of MU’s three road wins this season was over MSU in a 88-61 win Feb. 1 in Starkville, Mississippi.

If Mizzou advances out of the second round in Nashville, it will face 2-seed Florida in the quarterfinals on Friday. Missouri also beat the Gators this season, claiming a 83-82 win Jan. 14 in Gainesville, Florida. The potential quarterfinal rematch would air live on ESPN.
