The Detroit Red Wings are on the road on Tuesday night for an important game, and a measuring stick of sorts, as they take on a red-hot St. Louis Blues team.

Time is running out on the Red Wings, as their quest to end their eight-year playoff drought is dwindling with just a couple of weeks left in the regular season. The team pulled out a hard-fought win over the Boston Bruins on Saturday night, but they need more wins like that, especially since they have the toughest schedule in the NHL for the remainder of the season.

Heading into Tuesday night, the Red Wings are sixth in the Atlantic Division, three points back of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Blues have been on an absolute heater for the past month. Similar to the run the team went on before winning the Stanley Cup in 2019, St. Louis has gone from pretender to contender, winning nine straight games to grab the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
