According to RentCafe research, an apartment search website and research blog, the top spot is East Lansing, Michigan. But with dozens of colleges and universities in Kansas, one had to rank, right?

Aida Radmanestean, marketing and communications specialist at RentCafe, said 235 college towns across 12 key metrics were analyzed in the study.

"Revealing which ones offer the best mix of affordability, energetic student life, and quality education, going beyond prestige to focus on what today's students truly value," said Radmanestean.

Manhattan ranked in top five college towns in the Midwest

Manhattan ranked among the top college towns in the Midwest, placing fifth. The community also ranks 18th among the top 20 best college towns nationally.
