RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Governor Glenn Youngkin has ordered all United States and Virginia flags on state and local buildings to be flown at half-staff on Monday, May 27. According to the Governor’s Office, flags are ordered to be flown at half-staff in honor of Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, to remember the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the country. In pursuant of Virginia Code §2.2-3310.1 , all agencies and institutions of the Commonwealth are encouraged to display the POW or MIA flag on public buildings in honor and memory of the service and sacrifice of members of the United States’ armed forces who are or were prisoners of war or reported missing in action. Flags will be lowered at sunrise on Monday, and remain at half-staff until noon that day.
